The Friday seafood buffet is really pricey for what you get! Cold fried clams, never brought out any fresh clam strips, fried oysters too soft and mushy, clam chowder was not so good. Salad left alot to be desired. Host at FDR State Park, won't be coming back!

Back for my yearly visit to Columbus, GA and had to go back to Eddie Mae Gunn's Country Buffet for their Sunday buffet before I leave and again I was not disappointed. The fried chicken, cornbread dressing with gravy and greens are absolutely scrumptious, so is the rest of the buffet. The staff is friendly and welcoming to their customers. I will be back again next year.

The breakfast was really good and one of the only places in town that serves breakfast after 11am. We arrived around 11:30 and were seated very quickly (self seating). Our server greeted us quickly and inquired if we wanted the lunch buffet or a menu. We were served our drinks quickly as well. We did have a wait for our breakfast but I am guessing that was because everything is made fresh to order. Our food arrived steaming hot and it was delicious. I had the omelette with hash brown and a biscuit, my husband ordered the grand slam and he enjoyed every bit of it! I had to give him some of my omelette because it was HUGE! Next time we are in Pine Mountain we will be back to Eddie Mae's.

A lot of things went wrong on our recent vacation to Pine Mountain, Georgia, and visiting Eddie Mae's was at the top of the list. Hunger and the promise of starches got the best of us when we decided to eat here. To begin, we arrived ten minutes before the end of the lunch time buffet, but were still charged for the dinner buffet (despite telling the waitress the time). We also apparently took too long to order from the literally nonexistent beverage menu, because our waitress was gone before all of us has even told her what we wanted. As for the buffet, if you liked cafeteria food in high school, then you will be ecstatic about Eddie Mae's. Gravy smothered liver and cold fried/baked chicken were our only entrees. None of the food advertised was available at the buffet. Perhaps those were available from the *other* menu? Half of the buffet food was literally salad/ salad toppings. After playing over the food we absolutely had to leave. Should have gone to the Mountain Top Grill up the street. Also, have some nausea medicine on hand afterwards. I didn't eat again until the next day.

Walking up to the front door on Sunday, the grime bothered me, but we were starving, so we stayed. The food is inexpensive. The fried chicken was good. Fresh vegetables would be better- overall food institutional. The reason why we will never go back, the place is filthy.

You know a place is good when you have to wait for a table on a late Saturday morning for breakfast. There was a huge crowd, but we were seated fairly quickly. We loved our experience. Yes the food is greasy - this isn't health food. This is good, home-cooked, old-fashioned Southern food. Great if you are in town and need a good heavy breakfast. I wouldn't recommend eating here on a regular basis - your arteries would hate you, but the food is GOOD. Also, there was no lull between breakfast and lunch. It stayed busy the whole time we were there. We enjoyed our breakfast. The Western omelet was fantastic, and I would get it again. My kids loved their pancakes. We ordered off the menu, but the buffet looked great too. They have a Fish Fry on Fridays, which we didn't get to try but would definitely come back if we are in the area again. A lot of food. Great prices. Home-cooked, Southern-style. And very friendly staff. We loved our server, Ms. Faye, who has worked here for over 35 years! We will be back!

This place was very good. They hade very good food but the buffet was very greasy. I would suggest ordering off the menu. It is a lot better off the menu. The people were nice and I would come again but I would not come any where near the buffet.

Big mistake. We were in the mood for southern cooking and the Callaway Gardens Country Kitchen was still closed for the new year so we decided to try Eddie Mae's. First off-- it apparently has 3 names; Yelp's reviews are for "Eddie Mae Gunn's Country Buffet," the menus say "Eddie Mae's Country Kitchen," and the sign outside just says "Kountry Kitchen." Second, the food is WAY too expensive for the quality. The lunch buffet is $8.50 and that's the cheapest option. The burgers and sandwiches are ALL $9.50. Even the salads are $8.50. And the food is less than worth the money. Lastly, the food quality is disgusting. Two of us weren't very hungry and decided to stick with appetizers; the boyfriend got fries and I got fried green tomatoes. The fries were super freezer burned and the fried green tomatoes could have been wrung out into a bathtub and you wouldn't have gotten out all of the old grease. They were like sponges. I dabbed each one with a napkin and the basket still had a pool of brown grease at the bottom. The other two of us got the buffet, and they were disappointed. Nothing had any flavor and all came out of cans. Yuck. An employee sitting at a table when we walked in just told us to seat ourselves. I had no idea she worked there because she didn't have on any kind of uniform...no one did. Benches were falling apart, sticking out into the aisles. The whole place was just really thrown together and needs a makeover ASAP. I would not recommend going there.

It appeared that the big attraction to this place is the buffet. The buffet scared me. We checked it out and decided to order from the menu. My boyfriend had barbequed pork and I had catfish and french fries. We both had cole slaw. Our food was edible, but it was only okay. The cole slaw was way too sweet and runny. The catfish wasn't seasoned at all. The bathroom was so disgusting and the restaurant didn't look clean. Our waitress was very sweet though.

Best biscuits and gravy I have had in a loooong time and I lived in the Deep South for over 30 years. Awesome! The pancakes I sampled off my boyfriend's plate were fabulous, light, fluffy...just perfect. Thick sliced bacon cooked perfectly crispy, same for the sausage patties. T

Summary: Great food, prices and service. After going to a couple of places that were very close to the definition of tourist traps, we decided to give Eddie Mae's a chance. The location was very unassuming and the atmosphere very laid back. We ordered the fried chicken buffet and a sausage and ham omelette for two, since it was sort of brunch time. Very flavorful, homemade-tasting and fresh food, good sized portions and my favorite, lots of good hash browns. Pricing also included a drink, so you knew what you were paying from the start, why do other places complicate everything? Would definitely go back for there over another couple of places we tried while at Pine Mountain.

Apparently there are 2 kinds of people, those who like "greasy spoon" type places, and those who don't. I already knew that I'm of the latter, but I don't like to judge places before experiencing them. So, we drive by here somewhat regularly and there are Always vehicles parked out front. My wife and I thought that it couldn't be THAT bad if we always saw folks there eating. Getting out of the car, you instantly smell grease... but that's true of most places that fry anything so no worry yet. Walking in you are smacked in the face with the stench of old, nasty fry oil/grease. It was also quite hot inside, much more so than a 9am temp at the end of July in GA. Undaunted, we took a seat in an old booth that has soaked in the oil smell and feel. It was sorta clean, but could be cleaner. The elderly lady that waited on us was nice enough, food was served in a reasonable time frame. The food lived up to the smell and feel of the place, a ladle of grease is included with the food on every plate! I will give the biscuits a favorable nod, they were big, fluffy, Northern style biscuits... lol. I'm not a coffee drinker, but my wife is and she said it was among the worst she could remember drinking. Of course, less than 30 minutes later both of our stomachs want to be rid of the "food", it's currently 8 hours later and neither of us have eaten again, there's no more Ginger Ale or Pepto in the house and I think we're going to just skip dinner too. We don't eat this kind of food with Any kind of frequency, but even Huddle/Waffle house doesn't make us feel This bad. If you're a connoisseur of deep-fried foods, you might really like this place. If you tend to eat healthy, your body will make you rue eating here. Only you will know what kind of person you are.

Fried Green Tomatoes and country buffet! After a lovely wedding at Callaway Gardens and a morning stroll through the Azalea Bowl, we were hungry and headed back to Atlanta. We'd been thinking Cracker Barrel, but why go chain when you can go local? At 11:30ish on a Sunday, the place was pretty busy, but we were seated as soon as the hostess cleaned up a booth. The others wanted breakfast, and I was tempted by the fried catfish plate, but opted for the buffet, since I was in need of veggies (thanks to the road sign that reminded me!) and it seemed that everyone in the place had the fried chicken piled high on their plates. We started with Fried Green Tomatoes (as featured in Southern Living). I can't say that I'd ever had a FGT with a flour-based batter - always cornmeal. But they must fry these slices in the same grease at the fried chicken because they were so flavorful. The breading was nice and crisp, so that made up for the difference in texture from what I'm used to. I loaded my buffet plate with Greens, black eyed peas, green beans, corn bread, and fried chicken., happy to be eating right away while the others waited for their Grand Slam Breakfast platters. (Rude, I know, but I can't resist greens that are that close, and there were the FGT to hold them over...). Veggies were delicious. Cornbread was nice and crisp and on the savory side, which I prefer. Chicken was good, but the breading wasn't as crisp as on the FGT, so my second plate was all vegetables. The portions of the other meals were generous. The buffet price of $8.50 seemed more than reasonable to me. I will definitely be back here if ever in the area again!

I should have reconsidered eating here when I read the sign "Kountry Kitchen." There was a peculiar odor when we walked inside. There appeared to be some employees sitting at a table and they just told us to sit ourselves. We picked a booth and the cushions were very uncomfortable. It's as if whatever was supposed to be supporting the weight was broken and protruding upwards. The buffet was next to us and nothing looked appetizing. The vegetables looked like they had come from a can. Our guests ordered the buffet and I just had an order of French fries. I received a basket of crinkles fries that tasted like they spent far too long in a freezer. Nothing in the place tasted or looked like it was prepared fresh to order. After eating three fries, the waitress was kind enough to remove it from our bill.

Pine Mountain is a cute little town very close to the popular Callaway Gardens, some 90 minutes south of Atlanta. It's mostly a main street, but there are some appealing shops and nurseries on either side, and a few interesting restaurants. Because we love old-fashioned diners and country cooking (or close to it), we tried and enjoyed Eddie Mae's on the north end of the main drag. The diner offers a lunch and dinner buffet with three meats and usually about six veggies. The meats include fried chicken with a crispy crust and moist meat underneath, baked spaghetti (okay) and a meatloaf (didn't try). The veggies were delightfully fresh and tasty, especially the mashed potatoes, lumpy with real potato and covered with a gravy to die for. We could have put that gravy on dessert! We also liked the blackeye peas and green beans. We'd have a bigger choice when the veggie season gets here. There's even a small salad bar. The cost? $8.50 per person including a drink. Seemed fair to us. We also tried the breakfast buffet, which was equally appealing, scrambled eggs done just right, marvelous grits (just a bit lumpy, not at all runny), and they had a small bowl of cheese available if you care to add some to your eggs or grits (no extra charge). Biscuits, bacon, sausage, hash browns and tomatoes were also offered. The buffet was $6.50. You can also order off the menu for any meal. The "Grand Slam" breakfast includes two pancakes, two eggs, two strips of bacon, two sausage links and either grits or hash browns PLUS a free trip to the hospital for calorie overload. The folks running the place couldn't have been nicer. We wouldn't suggest you go out of your way to get here, but if you're in the neighborhood, there's some good eating at Eddie Maes.
